Our story

About us

Small batches, a two-week cure, and a burn test on every batch. Here is why we do it the slow way.

It started with a candle that quit

Rosie began at a kitchen table with a secondhand pouring pot and a shelf of candles that had all disappointed us the same way. They smelled beautiful in the shop. An hour after lighting, the room smelled like nothing at all.

That gap between the cold throw and the hot throw is the whole problem with mass-produced candles, and it comes from cutting fragrance load to save money. So we started testing. Different waxes, different wick sizes, different cure times, burning each version in a real living room instead of a lab and writing down what we could still smell at hour six.

Two years later that notebook became a product line. Everything we sell traces back to it.

How we actually make them

We pour in batches of about sixty. It is slower and it costs more per unit, but it means one person is watching the temperature of every pour and no scent ships before someone has burned it start to finish.

From wax to shelf

Four stages, and we do not skip the slow one.

Blend

Soy and coconut wax melted to 185°F, then cooled to 135°F before the fragrance oil goes in. Too hot and the top notes burn off before the candle is even poured.

Pour

Hand-poured one vessel at a time into rose glass, with the wick centred by hand. Machine-poured candles are faster; they are also where most tunnelling problems begin.

Cure

Two full weeks before anything is labelled. Curing lets the fragrance bind into the wax rather than sit on top of it, and it is the single biggest reason our candles still smell like something on hour six.

Burn test

One candle from every batch gets lit and timed. If the melt pool does not reach the edge or the scent drops off early, the batch does not ship.

What we hold to

Small batches, always

Sixty units at a time. We sell out sometimes and we would rather do that than pour something we would not light at home.

Nothing hidden

Soy-coconut wax, cotton wicks, phthalate-free fragrance oils at IFRA-compliant loads. Every ingredient is printed on the label.

Made to come back

The rose glass is meant to be reused. Send six clean vessels back and your seventh candle is free.

Where we are going

The scent library is deliberately short. Four house scents is enough to do properly, and we would rather add a fifth in a year than ten this quarter. What is coming next is refills, so the vessel you already own never needs replacing.
